Beyond Screening and Diagnosis in Perinatal Psychiatry: Evidence-based Medication and Psychotherapeutic Approaches
Project TEACH is funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health, and all services and events, such as this intensive training, are offered at no cost to clinicians in New York State.
Target Audience
New York State primary care and family practice physicians, pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing professionals, social workers, residents, and other mental health, primary care, and pediatric clinicians.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, learners will be able to:
- Correctly identify the risks of untreated, undertreated perinatal psychiatric illness, and also identify the risks of pharmacotherapies in pregnant and lactating patients, thereby enhancing prescribers' ability to perform informed consent with their patients and recommend treatment.
- Correctly and optimally utilize psychotherapeutic approaches in addressing the mental health needs of their perinatal patients.
- Correctly identify/use psychotropic medications in perinatal patients, including use during pregnancy and lactation.
